Frequently asked questions.
The questions spec professionals actually ask us — about SpecsIntact, your data, UFGS releases, and the private beta. Anything missing? Ask us directly.
Does SpecStage replace SpecsIntact?
No. SpecStage produces SpecsIntact-compatible .SEC files that drop into your existing job folder, QA process, and delivery format. Keep SpecsIntact for final assembly if you want — SpecStage takes the tailoring and review work off your plate before that.
Where do my project files live?
On your machine. SpecStage is a desktop application — project files, UFGS masters, exports, and decision logs stay local. For AI-assisted analysis, only the minimum required excerpts and project context are sent through a secured inference service to the AI model provider; SpecStage does not store project documents or tailored outputs on its servers. Full details.
Can I load CUI or classified material?
Never load classified material. For CUI: although project files stay on your machine, AI analysis transmits text excerpts to the model provider — so during the private beta we ask you to hold back CUI-marked documents and talk to us about your handling requirements first.
Which UFGS releases does it support?
Any official UFGS release — install it in SpecStage from a folder or zip. Multiple releases can be installed side by side, and every project stays pinned to the release it was created against.
Do I need my own AI account or API keys?
No. Beta access includes a SpecStage account that handles AI processing — install, sign in, and work.
What does the private beta involve?
A short application, then a download link and an onboarding walkthrough if we're a good fit. You get a direct line to the team; we ask for honest feedback from real projects in return.
Still have a question?
Write to us — a person reads it, and if you're weighing up the beta we're happy to talk specifics about your projects.
